Radio Nimba 99.5 FM
"Serving The Public"
Saniquellie, Nimba County, Liberia
FWA provided $6,000 for a transmitter and other equipment for Radio Nimba after a lightning strike heavily damaged equipment in the months leading up to Liberia’s first post-war election in 2005.
Nimba County residents suffered from violence and atrocities during Liberia’s 15 year civil war. Until 2005, the region lacked a reliable, independent community broadcasting service. During the 2005 national elections, Radio Nimba broadcasts focused on the election process and voters rights, while promoting peaceful conduct of campaigns. The station was one of many that contributed to Liberia’s successful election. Project partners include: Search for Common Ground and USAID.
